These ten-inch square paintings are literally fragments of larger paintings. They started out as an attempt to capture a recurring vision of berries or ants clustered on a twig. When the large paintings were done I discovered that each one had an area where lines and colors met in an interesting way. I was curious about these areas and cut them out. In the process of cutting my twigs and berries became landscapes. I love the idea that the curve of a berry or the belly of an ant can become an entire horizon depending on how you look at it.
