Incidentally, the image is divided into nine parts. According to Michael Schnieder “Nine is the final number having a specific identity… The ancient Greeks called nine ‘the horizon,’ as it lies at the edge of the shore before the boundless ocean of numbers that repeat in endless cycles the principals of the first nine digits.”
You know what, Hylla? I think you’re right. It’s eight. (I was counting the top section – 12:00 – two times. Sorry for confusing you! (Just imagine how those birds must feel…)
Anyway… Here are Schneder’s thoughts on eight…
“Eight is promiscuous, having more divisors among the Decad than any other number; it is divisible by one, two and four… The figure eight represents a polar cycle perpetually swinging between extremes and crossing itself in the middle as the diagonals of a square. Turned sideways the figure eight is the mathematician’s glyph for the infinite.
Thank you for keeping me on my toes.

Whew, thank you. I feel much better now and totally agree about the character of 8. Bought the book you recommended for myself and for a friend and got two others on the same subject. When I collect chicken eggs tomorrow morning one of the books will go with me and I can read to the chickens. Unlikely they will absorb anything but it sure is comforting sitting with a chicken in my lap
